Check your current version
Open Settings, then Apps, then Cinemana, and scroll to the bottom of the app info screen: the version number sits there. Compare it with the version listed on the download page. If yours is older, an update is worth doing: newer builds fix playback bugs and refresh the catalog API. It is also worth checking the changelog habits of the app: if a release only tweaks the interface, you can safely skip it and wait for the next one, but anything mentioning playback, subtitles, or sign-in fixes deserves an install the same day. If you are unsure whether an update took effect, reopen the app info screen afterwards and confirm the number moved up; a failed install-over sometimes leaves the old build in place without any warning.
Install the new APK over the old
Download the latest Cinemana app and open the file. Android will offer to update the existing app: confirm, and the new build installs over the old one with your data intact. Each new release is scanned before it reaches the download page. This is the path to try first, and it works in the large majority of cases.
When to do a clean reinstall
If the update fails with an "app not installed" error, the signatures do not match. Uninstall Cinemana completely, restart the phone, and install the new file fresh using the install guide. Still on an ancient build? The old versions guide explains why staying current matters.
